Inaugural war ride

I don't know why we decided upon calling our scooting ventures "war rides", but it sounds cool. This morning Matt and I decided to go on our first war ride; our destination: Jungmun.

We suited up at about 10:15 am, and met just out front of my place. Matt handed me my "colours", which is this kind of grey camouflage headgear/bandana looking thing.

We took a few photos to mark the occasion and then rolled on out. It was incredibly windy out, and I was glad to have the substitute neck warmer Matt gave me.

It didn't take very long to arrive into Jungmun, perhaps 10-15 minutes at most. Driving through the main street was great with the cherry blossoms above us and their petals flying through the air.

We took a few minutes to walk about the main street, taking video and pictures of the trees and birds. Matt got this really great shot of a Japanese white eye:

After spending about an hour cruising up and down the main strip, we moved on down towards the hotel district and the Cheonjeyon Falls. There is this great little cafe just a walk down the main road from the Falls and the Yeomiji Botanical Gardens.

Once we discovered that they had sandwiches on the menu, Matt and I insisted on getting the Baguette Sandwich Combination, which came with some coffee and chocolate chip cookies.

The sandwiches were about 8000 won by themselves, and the coffee is 6000 won, but the combo was 11,000, so it was a bit more affordable, but still way too overpriced.

My guess is that because it's so close to the hotels and tourist district that they mark up their prices hoping to cash-in on unsuspecting tourists; It's a great location and would make a nice spot to relax in warmer weather.

Matt spotted a pair of hawks through the window, but we weren't quick enough to identify them and they were gone before we knew it.

Once we finished our food and drinks, it was time to head back to Soggy city. We stopped for gas on the way, which only cost me about 5,500 won to fill it up from almost empty; I was impressed.

And so it was, the first war ride of many to come from this Soggy scooter gang. Hopefully next time we'll be able to round up some more people to come with.
